Gag Bit:ย The gag bit is often a normal bit above and below in the biting, there is an eye through which vertically a special baking piece has to be made especially for a gag. The lifting is intended to encourage the horse to raise his head. This bit is often used with horses that hang on the hand or dive. The horse gets pressure through the string behind the ears and the bit slides up in the mouth. The pick-up ring can also be used in combination with a curb chain.
Waterford Mouthpiece:ย Because of the many links in this mouthpiece, the horse will not grab this mouthpiece as quickly. A disadvantage of this mouthpiece is that a connection with the mouth of the horse is more difficult to obtain. This bit works reasonably sharp.
Sweet Iron:ย Sweet iron develops through contact with (air) moisture surface rust that tastes sweet and naturally stimulates saliva production. This will cause the horse to start foaming more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the Bombers bits into brownish gray. When temporarily not using a sweet iron bit an orange-brown layer of rust can form on the mouthpiece. This can easily be removed by removing the bit with a damp cloth.
*Due to the contagious nature of the equine disease EHV 1 and per the biosecurity measures suggested by the American Association of Equine Practitioners The Farm House will no longer accept returns on bits.
